Cupping Therapy

An Essential Tool for  a Variety of Symptoms

cupping1As practiced by 1000 Folded Cranes, cupping therapy is painless, and a non-invasive procedure that improves circulation reduces pain and reduces toxins in the body. Most patients would call the experience an enjoyable, almost spa-like experience, and one of their favorite ways to end their acupuncture sessions. Small, ball-like glass cups are placed on the front or the back of the torso and allowed to remain for a period of time.

The air within the jars is removed, forcing a portion of the skin to be pulled in the jar like a gentle vacuum. We employ an additional technique of using oil-based massage liniments that allow the jars to slide across areas of tension and pain, treating a greater area. Cupping is remarkably effective for relaxing muscles and restoring proper circulation.

Cupping is an essential tool for most musculoskeletal conditions, pain, colds, and flu symptoms, and all detox/weight loss. It can help remove toxins from the body and stimulate the flow of fresh blood, lymph, and Qi to the affected area and throughout the body.

Cupping therapy is not solely a tradition of Chinese medicine, as it was also recommended by Hippocrates, the man whom many consider being the “Father of Modern Medicine,” in his guide to clinical treatment.
